Jimmy picked up and looked at the object that was lying on his backseat. It was a crowbar, of all things.
"Someone coulda knocked my fucking head off with this thing," he said aloud, thinking about who could've done it and also thinking of what he'd do to the guy that tried to kill him.
He threw it on the passenger-side seat and was about to drive, but stopped suddenly when he saw what happened.
Behind him came more honking and yelling. And someone saying he'd call the cops if he didn't move.
But Jimmy wasn't hearing them. His attention was focused on that crowbar. Or rather what happened after the crowbar hit the seat. The material of the seat was different. It matched the material of the backseat, which was different than the front because it had to be replaced after a certain misunderstanding he once had with someone.
He picked up the crowbar again, wondering if it had something to do with what happened. And when he did, the crowbar touched his shirt, causing the material to change from cotton to vinyl, matching the former material of the passenger-side seat. It surprised him so much that he bumped the crowbar into the windshield accidentally, causing it to change from glass to cotton.
"What the fuck," he said with wide eyes.
Not knowing what else to do, he tossed the crowbar onto the road, immediately causing the asphalt to change to glass. The entire road became glass. Well, at least a mile of it, anyway.
The people who were stopped behind his car suddenly stopped honking. They got out of their cars and scratched their heads. What had happened?
After Jimmy calmed down, he looked at the crowbar sitting on the glass road. He could see the gravel underneath. It really does change materials, he thought. And that thought sparked a new one. He could change things into other materials, like silver and gold. This seemingly normal piece of metal could make him rich.
He got out of his car and picked up the crowbar, then put it in the backseat, momentarily forgetting about its transmuting ability and watched as his whole backseat turned to asphalt.
"Oh, man."
