"Remember, stick with the plan." Karyn said.
Sarah nodded. She took a tissue from the box on the end table near the couch, and dried her eyes. She and Karyn had spent much of the last hour talking about it, and she knew she had to put on a brave face, and couldn't be preoccupied worrying about her father.
Karyn led the way, heading up the stairs to Jon's room. The noise in the house was indeed disorienting. Between the televisions turned on at maximum volume in the living room and the bedrooms, and the Goth rock that was blasting from Zoe's stereo, it was hard to hear anything. The noise of two people heading upstairs certainly would not be heard.
Karyn opened the door to Jon's room, and stepped inside. Sarah followed close behind.
On the bed lay a teenage girl with short red hair, dressed in a pink sweater with bunnies on it, and a short skirt. She lay on top of the covers, hugging the pillow and trying to avoid contact with the world. Sarah knew from Karyn's description that this was Jon, after being transformed by the Random Gun.
And she also knew what to do. She reached forward to grab and restrain Jon as fast as she could, before Jon could react.
"Leave me alone!" Jon cried out in fear. Sarah held on tight to the scared girl Jon had become.
"This is for your own good!" Sarah hissed. "It's for all of our own good."
Karyn, meanwhile, was looking through Jon's dresser and cabinets, searching for the stone. She noticed the closet had been recently disturbed, and headed in that direction.
"No! Don't go there!" Jon cried out.
This reaction let Karyn know she was probably searching in the right place. The scaredy-cat personality the Random Gun had given Jon probably wouldn't allow him/her to fake such a reaction to mislead people.
Karyn threw open the closet door, and began searching through the pile of things Jon had created. Finally, she came to the shoe box at the bottom, and opened it.
Sure enough, there was where Karyn found the wishing stone.
When Karyn saw the wishing stone, she breathed a sigh of relief. She had been wondering if she'd ever see it again. On the way back to Jon's house, she had been imagining all sorts of crazy scenarios, such as Jon wishing the stone to disappear, or for the stone to turn into a bird and fly away, or some other means of getting rid of it. She was glad that Jon had been too scared of the stone to try any of those things.
Sarah held Jon back as Karyn picked up the wishing stone.
Karyn stared at the stone. It was this stone that had started the whole Transformation Gun mess in the first place. All because of a careless wish. In order to make things right, she knew that they could not make careless wishes. She had told Sarah several times that if and when they got a hold of the stone, they had best word their wishes carefully.
Karyn then spoke her first wish. "I wish I was physically restored to my appearance prior to being zapped with the Random Gun."
And with that, Karyn was no longer in the form of a 35-year old stripper. She was now back to her high school age self, with the blonde hair and large breasts she had from the first time she had wished on the stone.
She looked at herself, and sighed with relief. "Finally!" she said. "And now for my next wish. I wish everyone currently acting with a personality given to them by the Random Gun overcome the Random Gun-given personality so that their other one can resume control."
The stone flashed.
