And only a few seconds later, Charlie's fears were realized. The attack was so swift, but so brutal. One moment, Davis was walking through the forest, the next there was a whitish blur with the sound of crackling bone mixed in with that alien sound of squishy slithering. And in a burst of blood that sprayed across the trees, Davis was gone, killed by those creatures.
Charlie silently slapped his hand over his mouth, wanting to vomit at what he just saw, but trying not to. Because he could be next if they knew he was there.
He watched silently as the creatures slithered around the area where Davis was. Did they suspect that Charlie was there? He closed his eyes momentarily and prayed that they wouldn't find him.
