"Davis," Charlie whispered, trying to warn him. But he didn't turn around. He just kept walking. "There's something coming," Charlie whispered, now hearing that distinct squishy slithery sound he heard before. But for some reason, Davis still didn't hear him. He thought about raising his voice, but he didn't want those creatures to know that they were there.
Charlie stood his ground, crossing his fingers, hoping that the creatures would just walk by without noticing Davis' movements. But with the way Davis was acting earlier, Charlie doubted that things would go that smoothly.
