They crept through the forest for about ten minutes, before Charlie stopped. The man named Davis turned and looked at him, then waved for Charlie to come with him. "Come, come," he said.
"Where are you taking me?"
Davis looked confused.
"Where are we going?" Charlie asked, this time a little closer to him.
"Safe ... tee," Davis said.
"To safety?"
Davis nodded.
"From those things?"
Davis nodded. "Come," he said, waving again for Charlie to come with him.
But just as they resumed their hike, Charlie smelled rotting fish again. It was those creatures! He stopped, trying not to move or make any kind of sound. But apparently Davis didn't notice and he kept on walking.
"Davis," Charlie whispered, trying to warn him.
