"Officer, my wife needs help. She's ..."
Suddenly, the sky turned an eerie green color. Then a second later, it was back to normal. Charlie looked around. Hadn't anyone else seen that? At the moment, it seemed that Charlie was the only one that noticed.
"Hey!" the man yelled, breaking Charlie out of his thoughts. "Are you listening to me? I said someone stole my wife's purse. They beat her up pretty bad. Aren't you going to call an ambulance or something?"
Charlie wasn't a real cop. He had no idea how to do what this guy wanted. Oh, he could call 911, but what would he say to them?
Right now, this situation needed a cop and Charlie was going to give it one. He reached for the man's hand and touched it.
The man freaked out. "What the hell's wrong with you? Get off me!"
Something was wrong. Why wasn't he able to hop into the man's body? He had already done it with the woman, the girl, and the cop. But then he remembered the green sky. Could the sky turning color be affecting him in some way? At first, he wasn't too wild about his seemingly uncontrollable ability to "hop" bodies, but now he wanted it back.
As far as he knew, he was stuck in this cop's body. Maybe even for the rest of his life.
