Matthew felt a little weirded out by his sister’s antics, but now, his mother seemed off too. She was mean to her, but nice to him? He leaned over to see his mother on the floor cleaning up the juice his sister spilled.
“Mom, are you okay?”
“Yes, I’m fine, just a little annoyed by your sister.” She said as she got it all up in paper towels.
“She had her lips closed by her fingers. Why would she do that?”
“Well, sweetie, you told her to.” She said in a rather matter of factly way.
“Okay, but why doesn’t that bother you?”
Monica stood up and took the wadded up the wet paper. “Well, you didn’t want me to be upset at you anymore, so I stopped.”
“Wait…I didn’t say that…” Matthew thought about it. It seemed like things were manifesting, but how? This had to be some kind of prank. Not like he could make people do whatever, could he? What would he do to his mom? She was about to drop the wad in the trash before he had an idea. Suddenly, she froze then lifted the wad above her mouth, and squeezing the juice out of it. Matthew was shocked. She would never do something so gross, and he didn’t even say anything, she just did it. “Mom, you drank the juice from the floor?!”
“Yes, I had a little thirst….” She said with only a little embarrassment. “…I hope that didn’t bother you.” She said as she finally tossed the trash away.
Matthew was in disbelief, but maybe something truly was happening…
