Amazingly, Mikey managed to fall asleep despite what he was planning. He woke in time to hear someone walking down the hall. A moment later there was a knock on his door. "Mike," he heard his mom say. " Are you awake?" "Yes, Linda." He had wanted to say "mom", but found himself unable to. It seemed the wish was working. This was going to be a great day. "Get dressed and come down for breakfast."
Mikey quickly got dressed, pocketed the stone and wish list, and headed downstairs.
When Mikey entered the kitchen Jon was already there. Zoe was still getting dressed. Her goth fashion took a little time to get together. "So did my husband sleep well last night?", Linda asked. "Yes Linda. Did you wife?" "Yes I did. Thank you for asking." "Where is dad?" "He had to go to work early Mike." Mikey's heart sank. He had wanted the whole family to be together when he made his wishes. Despite his desire to make the changes quickly, he decided to wait until that night. Besides, he could still have fun with the rock at school.
"Are you ready Mike?" "Yes Linda." "Then get your books and I'll drop you off at school. Jon, you'll have to lock up on your way out when your sister is ready." "Yes mom," said Jon
Linda headed out the door with Mikey following.
