Baylie shifted nervously in hys seat as Matilda draped a pink, silky sheet over hym. Hei glanced at Brittanie through the mirror, and the boi gave hym a reassuring smile as hei watched from the sidelines. Melina bustled about the salon behind them getting everything ready.

“First things first,” Matilda began, standing behind Baylie and running a manicured hand through hys short brown hair, “we’ve got to get rid of that awful brown color.” The disgust came through hys voice. “Now, Brittanie tells me that you’re a bit of a Jaynegurl and that that explains the lack of blonde…but, as you’ve probably already seen, nearly every boi around here is blonde.” Hei gestured around the salon, and Baylie nodded, slowly acknowledging the stylist’s point.

“So we’re going to start by dyeing your natural hair blonde before we add any hair extensions.” Matilda spotted Baylie’s worried look in the mirror and smiled before leaning in and adding, “Trust me, honey… When I’m done, the gurls are gonna love you.”

By this point, Melina had finished mixing the dye, and Matilda instructed Baylie to lean forward so that the stylist could rinse hys hair. As Matilda moved to grab the faucet, Brittanie let out a small squeal as hei spotted something.

“Oh my Goddess!” hei squealed excitedly, bouncing up and down on hys heels. “Matilda, is that what I think it is!?” Brittanie asked, pointing to Matilda’s hand. Matilda paused for a moment and then looked down at hys hand and smiled.

“Yep, and I’m actually glad that you’re here because I wouldn’t be able to wait until our next session otherwise but Errin finally proposed to me last night!” hei told the boi proudly, standing up and holding hys hand out so that Brittanie could see the ring on hys finger.

“Oh my gosh!” Brittanie exclaimed as hei examined the rock. “It’s so beautiful.”

“Hei’s been gushing about it all morning.” Melina explained. “I’m surprised that hei didn’t start with it.”

“Errin really outdid hirself this time. Fourteen carats,” Matilda beamed. Hei turned around and showed Baylie. The ring was a silver double band with sapphire gemstones lining the front; in the middle were diamonds in the shape of a heart, with a big pink gemstone filling the shape. In Baylie’s opinion, it was a little tacky, but Matilda seemed to be enamored by it.

After a moment of silence, Baylie suddenly realized that Matilda was expecting a reaction to it; quickly, hei let out a sigh. “Wow, Matilda! It’s so beautiful. I can only hope that my gurlfriend gives me a ring like that.” I’d never give Sarah a ring like that, hei quietly added to hymself.

“Can you believe it?” Matilda asked Brittanie as hei got started on rinsing Baylie’s hair. “I’m finally going to be Msr. Errin Chesford!”

“Wow!” Brittanie breathed. “I’m so happy for you. I can’t wait to tell Biffanie but we’re going to miss you. Have you set a date for the wedding yet?”

Matilda shook hys head. “Not yet, I’m still trying to process the whole thing.” Brittanie nodded as the stylist continued. “But I’m hoping for an April wedding so that gives me about six months and then I can finally be a househusbenne!”

Baylie tried to tilt hys head up, but Matilda gently pushed hys head down, keeping it over the basin. “Wait…what?” hei asked, slightly confused. “You’re just going to quit your job as soon as you get married?”

Matilda shared a look with Brittanie, who just shrugged hys shoulders. “It’s a long story,” the boi whispered.

“Well… Of course I am, honey. What kind of boi would I be if I carried on working after marriage? Who would keep the house tidy?”

In hys position, the only way Baylie could react was to roll hys eyes. Bois, hei thought as Matilda had finished wetting hys hair and began applying the dye.
