"I think I'd like to, uh, retire for the afternoon" Jon tried to affect a refined manner of speech. He needed to get some privacy so he could learn what was going on. A voice came from his side and he jumped a little before seeing it was Amber Levine, also in a maid uniform, who'd apparently followed him into the hall. "Of course, your highness, I'll bring your school things up to your room, posthaste." It was then Jon noticed that the former cheerleader was carrying an incredibly expensive looking schoolbag. Apparently she was Jon's personal maid or something in this world, and carried his things.
"Uh, yes, see that you do. Also, please fetch a volume on world history for me from the library. I wish to review it for my studies." Jon requested, assuming a palace like this would have a library of some sort. "Of course, your highness." Amber intoned before heading off towards the staircase. Jon followed after her in order to discover where his room was. It ended up being a lavish suite of rooms on the second floor in the eastern wing of the building. Jon would need to take time to explore it later, but for now Amber had brought him a book entitled "A History of British Achievement"
Jon furiously read through the book Amber had fetched for him. He needed to figure out what had happened before he could start trying to fix it. In the pit of his stomach he remembered that they'd discovered wishes were irreversible but maybe there was a loophole?
Apparently the stone had altered events all through history to create this new world. The Magna Carta was never signed; the French revolution was defeated in under a month. The American revolution failed in spectacular fashion, with founding fathers ending up with their heads on pikes. Lenin was barely a footnote after he was crushed under the Czar's heel. Time and again, events that had shifted the world towards democracy had been defeated, and instead monarchy and aristocracy had remained ascendant.
The land of The United States was divided into multiple kingdoms, all united under the Imperial British Crown, along with the kingdoms of Scotland, Ireland, Australia and more. Apparently Jon now lived in the kingdom of Avalon which stretched from Virginia in the south, to Illinois in the west and north through what had been New England. Lake Valley, which had been a nondescript Maryland town on Chesapeake Bay, was now the sprawling capitol city, Camelot. Craziest of all, The august Webster royal family, his mother's maiden name, now ruled. His mother Linda Gibson was now a figure in the section on modern history as she had become, Lisbeth Galinda Regina Webster the Third, Avalon's newest queen. Lisbeth was generally beloved by her subjects, at least according to the book Jon was reading, and both her daughters, the princesses, were popular figures.
'Right, daughter' Jon thought as he looked down at his new feminine form. She should really stop using masculine pronouns. There wasn't much on her in the book as she was only sixteen, but she did learn her name was Elaina Persephone Guinevere Webster, while Zoe had become Zelda Charlotte Athena Webster. It was odd that two of her names belonged to her friends form the old world and Elaina wondered if the old Zelda and Athena still had their names.
She was also able to put together that Lake Valley Academy had turned into The Royal Camelot Academy and only royals and the aristocracy attended. That could explain why two of her classmates were now maids. Elaina worried at that moment for Karyn, hoping they were still friends in this world.
