Jon made his way home, his mind buzzing with ideas. While the stone had the drawback of permanent changes, as Karyn had discovered, it still offered seemingly endless possibilities. It was a little overwhelming to be honest, the amount of choice before him. There were a lot of things in his life he could improve. He wasn't the most popular at school, not bottom of the barrel like Jay, Kyla and Leonard, but far, far from the top.
Or maybe he should wish for something more substantial. His parents had divorced a few years back and his dad was less than reliable with the child support. If his mother had a better payed job than her current one as a paralegal it could help them out a lot. Then again, maybe he should use it to fix Zoe and his mom's relationship. Zoe had become really rebellious since their dad walked out and the house was often a warzone of shouting between her and his mother.
It was with these idle thoughts running through his head that Jon walked into the threshhold of his home. His mother was standing in the foyer and looked less than pleased.
"Jon! You forgot to take the trash out this morning and now it's already run. I don't give you a lot of responsibilities around the house, but I expect you to do the few things I ask you to do." Jon shrunk back slightly, feeling bad. He'd been feeling bad about his grandfather's passing but obviously it was even rougher for his mom, who was looking particularly strung out at the moment. He shouldn't be putting putting more on her plate. He put his hands in his pockets and bowed his head down slightly, "Sorry mom, I won't let it happen again."
Linda sighed and pulled her son into a hug. "I'm not mad Jon, just a little disappointed. You're getting older. You can't expect people to pick up after you like a princess."
Jon smirked slightly at that and blithely said "I wish people treated me like a princess," not realizing he was touching the stone in his pocket before the world shifted in a massive flash of light.
