"You've got this." Jon thought as his eyes scanned the 2 story building one more time. With his stuff all packed up in his duffle bag Jon was giving himself one last mental pep talk before trying to talk his way into the gym. "Keep confident and stick to your story. She'll buy it." Jon slung the somewhat heavy feeling duffle bag over his shoulder and walked into the gym lobby. The cool air conditioned air sent a chill down Jon's spine as he approached the girl manning the front desk. "Hi." Jon said as he approached the desk. The girl who had been busy playing with her phone finally looked up at Jon. "I'm in kind of a pickle. I signed up last night, but I seemed to have left my temporary pass in the locker room..." Jon made a face like he was embarrassed by his screw up. "Anyways I was wondering if there was any way I could get in to snag my ID?"
The girl looked confused girl as she took a moment to process what Jon had just told her. "We don't have temporary passes..." The girl reached under the desk and pulled out an small card. "We do have day passes, but not temporary ones. You signed up last night? What's your name? I'll see if you're in the system."
Mentally Jon began to panic, but he kept his demeanor calm. "Jon Jackson." The girl ran her fingers through her hair and then began typing the fake name into the computer. "Shit I almost forgot about Sarah's wish." Jon's eyes quickly scanned the girl's body, but her oversized sweater shirt obscured what Jon figured was a pretty fit body. "Fine... Hair. I want her hair. I love her hair. Give me her hair!"
The girl tilted her head and ran her fingers through her hair once again. "Yeah... I'm not seeing you in here." She said twirling a lock of hair around her finger.
Thinking fast Jon began to make up a story on the spot. "The guy who signed me up last night was having computer issues." Jon awkwardly leaned against the desk. "So maybe it didn't take. Maybe the temporary pass was a day pass. I don't know... This is all new to me... I'm not really the gym type. Ya know..." Jon let out a sigh and did his best to look both disappointed and embarrassed.
"O sweetie... Do you remember his name?" The girl asked as she grabbed a clipboard off the desk. Jon responded with a shrug. "Hmm..." The girl ran her finger down the paper. "Was it Aiden?"
"I think that sounds right, but..." Jon did his best to act genuinely unsure as he paused for a moment. "He did say that if I had issues with the card he would be working later this week."
"I bet it was Aiden." The girl shook her head. "He's done crap like this before." She grabbed a day pass from the stack on the desk. "I'll make you a new day pass and then I'll talk to him tomorrow when our shifts overlap to get this sorted out."
"Thank you so much!" Jon said letting out a sigh of relief.
"No problem. Just let me fill this out and you'll be all set." The girl smiled at Jon and began filling out the paperwork.
"Brown hair. You want brown hair. It's the sexist!" Jon remained focused on her hair as he tried to convince himself that he was truly head over heels for her hair color. As Jon watched on the girl once again ran her fingers through her hair. "See look how sexy that is. STUPID WISH GIVE ME HER HAIR COLOR!" Jon's internal monologue screamed as he watched her continue to toy with her long brown hair.
"Here you go!" The girl said handing him a new day pass. "We should have this all straightened out tomorrow around 6pm."
"Thank you so much!" Jon said in his sincerest tone. Heading over to the entrance gate, Jon swiped his card and began walking down the hallway that led to the locker rooms and gym. "Fucking eh you did it!" Jon thought as he followed the signs to the locker room. With the locker rooms in sight a mirror in the hallway caught Jon's attention. "Well did I get it?" He wondered as he walked up to the mirror. "Huh..." Jon mumbled when he saw that his hair was still dark black. "What did I?" Jon's eyes scanned his face and then moved down to his oddly shaped body. "Did I get anything?" Jon wondered as he fiddled with his braid. Leaning closer to the mirror Jon continued to inspect his face. _"Really? She was cute too..." Jon tucked a few loose strands of hair behind his ears. "Weird." Jon instinctively flicked his head causing his braid to fly back over his shoulder.
"O well..." Jon turned and looked over to the entrance of the men's locker room and then over to the entrance to the women's locker room. "Shit. Which one should I use?" He thought as he pulled his braid back over his shoulder and began fiddling with it. Jon felt like the world had come to a stop as he debated his next move.
