Jon stayed in bed for a moment, wondering if it had all been a dream. He remembered one of the strange men in his house taking away his mother...That was silly, right? He finally got up and showered, and headed down to breakfast....and nearly fainted when he found Sarah there, nursing a cup of coffee. She was dressed in a conservative skirt and blouse.
"Morning, Jon," she said. She looked at him, his jaw dropped, and surprise on his face. "Are you all right?"
Jon forced his mouth to close. "Umm...yeah. Just...had a bad dream."
"Oh, sorry....do you want to talk about it?"
"No!" he said, a bit louder than expected.
"This isn't about Karyn, is it?" She asked.
"What about Karyn?"
"She's an attractive girl...although why she insists on wearing that dirty green thing, I don't know. But you make such a cute couple."
"She's just a friend," Jon said.
"Are you sure?" Sarah grinned. "I had a friend like Karyn once."
"Oh?" Jon said, curious despite himself.
"Where do you think you came from?" She asked.
"I....gotta meet Karyn," Jon said, flustered, hurrying upstairs to grab his things...and maybe make a wish.
Sarah looked after him. "I worry about him," she muttered to herself, taking another sip of coffee. "He's entirely too much like his father. Sweet, but clueless."
