Jim and Matt continued to walk the trail for the next 10 minutes. Matt was getting more than a little scared being this deep in the woods and he was just about to ask his big brother if they could turn back when they spotted it.
In the small clearing up ahead was a dilapitated water well complete with a pulley and bucket attached to the stone constructed base, which had an odd appearance. All the stones on the base were jet black and had strange etchings on them like an old Indian language was written upon them.
"What is that," asked Matt while walking around his brother to get a better look.
"It's an old water well, people used to dip the bucket into there and bring up fresh water for them to drink," said Jim. He walked around the general area of the well to see if their was any other relics that they had stumbled upon. "It's kinda weird for it to be out here in the middle of nowhere."
"Is it a wishing well," asked Matt, totally ignoring Jim's explanation. "It looks more like a wishing well to me. Just like the one at the Heritage Festival."
"Well, if you don't get too close to it you can toss in a quarter and make a wish. Just don't be too surpised when nothing happens."
Jim continued to inspect the well when he heard the jingling of spare change in his brother's pockets.
"Oh well," though Jim, "I guess he's going to have to learn the hard way when it comes to thowing money away."
