Jim apologized to Rebecca when they finally finished. "I'm sorry that took so long. I guess we could still eat here," he finished, pointing at the chain restaurant across the way.
"This is what you had in mind," she asked.
"Yeah, I thought I remembered you saying, a while ago, that you liked it."
"It's one of my favorites. I can't believe you remember that. That was over a year ago. But we don't really have time, do we?"
"Hmm... now that you mention it, since I'm Kim now, you'll need to call home to get a ride, regardless, so I think it doesn't really matter as much. Although we probably should call it a night after that, anyway. Do you still want to go?"
"Just the two of us? Of course, I do," she replied, emphatically.
They went in, were lucky enough to get a table right away (probably greatly helped by the fact that it was a guy doing greetings, and he couldn't raise his eyes above their chests), and sat down to a nice dinner. They sat across from each other, spending most of their time holding hands and looking into each other's eyes. They didn't talk much, though each would later claim that they spent the entire time talking.
When the waiter came to ask about the cheque, they were reminded that they didn't have all night. Rebecca called her mom about a ride, while Kim paid the bill. Once her mom finished giving Rebecca hell about staying so late, and not getting a ride back with Kim, they agreed to meet at the nearest mall entrance.
Kim walked her over there, and then spent five minutes exchanging very sloppy kisses with her. After that, Kim decided she better get to her car, so they thanked each other several times for the great day. Finally, Kim reminded Becca to change back to herself, and headed for the car.
On the way home, Kim got a call from Rick, who asked, "So are you ready to change back, yet?"
"What are you talking about, Rick? Change back from what?"
"Never mind," Rick said. "Are you alone?"
"Of course," she replied. "I'm driving home."
"Tell me when you're at a stop light, then."
"What difference does that make? Oh fine, ok, I just got to one."
Suddenly, the seat was seeming much more crowded, as his legs and torso stretched back to their original length. Jim quickly adjusted the seat back, and said, "Oh," when he was finished. "Oh my god, that was close," he exclaimed, as it sunk in a little more. "I guess I can forgive you for the outfit choice, now. Thanks, man."
"No worries. Hmm... I wonder what effect that would have had on your sister, if I'd been too late. I wish there was a safe way to test it. Oh well. Anyway, give me a call tomorrow; we can hang out, and you can tell me how things went with Beth."
Jim wasn't really paying attention to that, he was too much enjoying having his body back. So he distractedly said, "Uh huh. Later," and hung up.
