It wasn't until Jon got done getting ready for school and headed downstairs for some breakfast that things got ... strange again. Zoe and Mikey were there, sitting at the table, and their mom was toasting something. Nothing unusual there. But when Jon grabbed the box of cereal sitting on the table, he found that it was empty. Looking over, he saw that Zoe and his 10-year old brother Mikey had apparently used the rest of it for their bowls. "I guess I'll have something else," Jon muttered.
"Oh, you wanted the cereal? Here, have mine," Zoe said, pushing her bowl towards Jon. He looked at her oddly. She was doing it again, being uncharacteristically accommodating. But it wasn't just her.
"No, have mine, Jon. I can have something else," Mikey said, pushing his own bowl towards Jon.
Zoe turned and glared at Mikey. "I already offered him mine, Mikey." Then she turned towards Jon, her eyes softening. "You'll take mine instead of Mikey's, won't you, Jon?"
Yeah, this was definitely weird. Jon was starting to think that their behavior was because of that vague wish he made, but was this so bad? What could be so wrong with people being nicer to him?
