The stone grew warm in Jon's hand, and he realized that Sarah had been touching it. All five at the table inexplicably shut their eyes for a moment, and when they opened them back up, a girl was sitting in Jon's place at the table.
Sarah, Amber, and Tracy gasped in shock. Karyn gasped in horror: she knew about the stone. Jon, completely overwhelmed, put her head down on the table and began to cry.
"Jon?" Sarah asked, "is that you?" Jon tried to nod through his body's jerky convulsions. Tracy and Amber made their way around the table to his side, and Sarah, still holding his hand and not knowing what else to say, said "Gee, I wish I could make this easier for you."
