...rushed through his front door just in time to hear the phone start ringing.
He picked it up. It was Karyn. Jon let out a sigh of relief: at least the second wish had worked.
"Jon, all us girls are going down to the mall. You coming with?" Her voice had changed in subtle ways.
"Umm, sure" Jon replied, "let me just get back to your place and..."
"What are you talking about, Jon?" Karyn interrupted, "Sarah's going to pick you up like usual. She's on her way right now. I've got a ride with Tracy."
Just then, before Jon could even think, a car horn honked from just outside. He looked out the front window and saw Sarah in the Jeep Grand Cherokee she always drove around in. "That's her," Jon said, "I'll see you there."
"Bye," said Karyn as they both hung up.
Jon's head was swimming, and without conscious thought he walked back outside and into Sarah's car. She seemed happy, which was not something Jon was used to when she was around him.
"Jillian still needs to finish her Chem homework, so she's ducking us today. We're just picking up Amber," Sarah informed Jon as she pulled out of his driveway.
Jon, still coming to terms with everything, could only nod his head as they drove off.
