The incubation period of The Beauty is short, once infected you are directly contagious with it for just an hour when it can be spread essentially like a cold, whereas after this hour it transmits more like an STD through sexual contact. This hour was enough time for Tiffany to pass it to Steve Farber as they slept together, and for Nadine to pass it to both her parents when she got home, and for Gladys to be captured by the shadowy government organization that was studying the virus. But as we have seen, most of the actual sickness is being unconscious in bed in a cocoon of your own viscus sweat, and so let us leave this first wave of the infected to their beds and slabs and return to them when they have achieved a more interesting state.
Jon and Biff were busy surprising each other at the mall food court.
"So wait, you are telling me you know her? How did a guy like you get in with that?"
"You have a class with her too, it's Karyn. At least I'm fairly certain that's her, she did look a lot...better than we are used to."
"I think I would remember if that walked into a room I was in dude, but whatever, you got an in, cool, any advice?"
"Yeah, she likes video games, she's a little too proud of being an introvert, and her favorite superhero is daredevil."
"No wonder you haven't bagged that, I'm assuming you haven't, no offense, naw dawg, like, what sort of guys does she date."
"ummm, she kinda doesn't. I don't think she's even had a crush, she wears a green jumper all the time...I mean usually. I'm not so sure now, she see made some changes recently"
"ya think?"
"Yeah, I think she was jealous of your girl Sarah...by the way, where is she?"
"I dunno Movies or something? Stay on topic."
"anyway, I'm not sure what's going on there. I think she had a crush on Tom Wells when we were in middle school, but then there was drama, or they had drama...I don't know man, she's Karyn. You know, quiet green jumper girl, she's the relatable one?"
"well you are no help are you?" Biff laughed "girls like that aren't here to relate, they are here to stand on the top of the mountain and see what man can beat the others to the top."
"and you think Karyn is That sort of girl?" Jon laughed back
'Any girl looking that good on purpose or accident, it's nature man, top of the pack seeks the same thing. Biff flexed. "You think I go to the gym for fun?"
"I think you go to the gym for yourself, and I think you want Karyn in the wrong way, she's not a bicep dude, she's not here to make you look good."
"Naw, she does that all on her own, but that's not how a girl operates, they pair off...take notes dude, I'm totally helping you here... and see if they choose to pair off with you when they could have anyone...well that's when you own the room isn't it. Not that there is much other choice in this town. Sarah and me being together just sort of makes sense, who else is it going to be?...cept now, poor Sarah, Hey maybe you can score her on the rebound." Biff said with the sort of mocking confidence that defines assholerly. Biff thought of himself as the only lion in a cage full of Meerkats, the best they anyone was going to do was duck out of his way. and at the moment Biff was right.
"I don't think she's going to go for that." Jon cautioned
"Well, she clearly didn't go for whatever you are offering either." Then Biff clearly becoming bored with the conversation got up to leave, she had to be done doing whatever she was doing in that spa by now right?
At that exact moment Karyn, filled with confidence, was making her way to Tom Wells house because as right as Biff may had been, Jon was also right, and Tom wasn't going to say no.
