Jon flicked to the news on the InterMon. The announcer droned through various items on news. Jon flicked to different news stories on the menu bar as they caught his interest while listening to Karyn at the same time.

Jon flicked to the entertainment channel. A pretty girl sung a pretty song doing a pretty dance. In the late 2050's disco was back in fashion again. Jon yawned, he hadn't missed disco since its last appearance in the 2030's
He wondered what life would be like in the 22nd Century, then the 23rd, 24th, 25th and so on to eternity. What happened when the human race became extinct? In five billion years, when the sun became a red giant and swallowed the Earth, would he die then or would he still be alive to see the sun dim into a white dwarf, then a cinder, then darkness as the galaxy, and finally the universe faded away?
He hoped the power of the wishing stone wasn't eternal. What if the stone were destroyed? He knew of stories involving magical items where the power of the spell lasted only as long as the item existed. Perhaps, he might yet get to die.
