Karyn woke up at exactly 4:55, nearly 26 hours after she had passed out in her own bed....she remembered dreaming...had she passed out? What time was it? What was going...blond hair fell in her face...she wasn't used to this much blond hair. She had a headache...her nightstand was covered in bottles of water...and her bed had a bunch of crap in it....gross...had she shit the bed? It didn't smell...she fumbled for a light.
The strange thing was her first reaction at her reflection wasn't shock or unrecognition...it was her hair that first caught her attention, she was still getting used to it, but wasn't Sarah's hair lighter and more yellow than this...which lead to her looking closer. It was then she realized her eyes were the wrong color and that in fact, her face looked a little different...then she took it all in and once again, it wasn't shock but more a surge of confidence that filled her. Wow, I look great! She thought to herself.
"Honey...are you up?" Her mom checked in, it was early so she wasn't quite with it yet, but her daughter had been sick so she wanted to make sure she had been ok. She seemed to just sleep for much of the last day.
"Yeah Mom...I feel great now." Karyn responded.
"Oh honey!" Her mom responded as she finally came around the corner and got a look at her daughter. "wow...you look amazing..." Now the shock came, her mom started inspecting her intently.
"How...I mean it's like your face changed...I've never seen anything like this"
"Maybe I lost some weight from the flu?" Karyn was a little uncomfortable with her mom's reaction to her.
"well you were sweating a lot....I don't know...weird....maybe we should find sometime with a doctor....HOLD up....your eyes...they've changed color."
"Huh..yeah, I guess they did? Stress maybe? I feel fine now." Karyn said looking at her new face in the mirror.
"I've never heard of stress doing anything like that....I'm calling Doctor Binn, just in case you know"
"yeah fine, but I'm telling you I feel great now...whatever happened, it's over now, must have just been like 24 hour thing."
"Well Jon's been calling. I told him you were sick, but I don't think he believed me."
'I'll text him, I should probably talk to him anyway.
"Wow you look great!"
"Thanks Doc."
"and good news, you are in the pink of health. Nothing wrong with you....you've even lost 13 pounds since you last came in"
"and what about the eye thing Doctor?"
"well pigmentation loss is a thing that can happen with stress, usually it takes a lot of it though. It's odd but I think overall I think she's just growing up...puberty you know. You should be happy, she's turning into a very health and lovely girl."
And that was the end of that.

But Karyn knew some stuff her mom hadn't picked up on. How had her body shape changed over night....the hair she had explained away as a dye job, and the new breasts she could just say were there for a while and nobody noticed because of the jumper...but she had lost 6 inches off her waist and gained 5 around her butt overnight, that doesn't just happen. She could feel it in the way her pants were failing to fit and the way her jumper felt more like a body tent now than a comfortable blanket.
"Well one this is clear from all of this" Her mom continued her thoughts. "You need some new clothes"
"Oh no that's fine...I"
"Honey, you are growing up, time to get rid of that old jumper and start looking like a lady." Karyn's new eyes rolled. "besides I'm buying"
"How about this...you give me the money and I'll buy my own clothes."
"But that's no fun for me...come on...I want to play dress up."
