"I'm white!" shouted Jackie. She covered her mouth with her hand and felt her lips. They were thinner now.

Other students ... white like me, thought Jackie ... stared at her. Why would she loudly state the obvious in a school hallway?

Jackie walked quickly toward the nearest bathroom. She wanted to run, but she also didn't want to attract any more attention. She looked at herself in the mirror. She was a perfectly normal, pretty Caucasian girl with naturally wavy brown hair plus some blonde highlights. Her blue eyes lacked epicanthal folds and were slightly closer together. Yuki had been an atheist, but the seeds of faith had been planted in Jackie. Although Jackie would never be a Nadine Ferguson, she did believe. She prayed that God would help her understand what was going on. She didn't expect any miracles, any instant insights. Nonetheless, she'd appreciate any help at this point.

Meanwhile, Karyn was waiting for Jackie outside the bathroom. Just as Karyn was about to enter the bathroom to check up on Jackie, someone bumped into her. It was ...
