Jon lowered his hand. "You're forgetting one thing, Karyn. If we don't hear the wish, then we'll think everything is normal just like everyone else." He pushed himself off the wall and raised his hands in the air. "For all we know, this whole reality is different."
Just then, someone bumped into Jon. "Hey, watch where you're standing!" the person yelled out. Then suddenly, there was a bright flash of yellow light.
Jon felt dizzy, and reached out a hand against the wall to steady himself. He blinked. "Sorry, I wasn't looking where I was going. you were just standing there," he said, apologetically.
He looked at the girl he bumped into and her friend. He didn't know them. But they were juniors, and he was only a freshman.
"Well, watch where you are going next time," the girl said. "Come on, Karyn," she said to her blonde friend. They headed down the hall.
Jon turned and continued the other way. Something seemed wrong, but he couldn't put his finger on it.
