"I love you, Jon," said Sabrina.
Jon smiled. Then they leaned in and kissed.
He didn't lose the stone, Karyn thought. He gave it to Sabrina! Furious (and maybe a little jealous), she briskly walked over to the two of them. "Give the stone back, you freak!"
Suddenly, Karyn couldn't move. And without any control, her mouth started to move by itself. "Hi, Sabrina."
Sabrina looked wide-eyed at Karyn. But Jon didn't. Sabrina wasn't expecting Karyn to be one of the people to be affected by her wish. She understood that Karyn called her a freak only because she was mad, but her wish was specific. Anyone who called her or any of her friends a freak would be affected. Period. The reason behind it didn't matter.
"I hope you're coming to Steve's party." She leaned in a little towards Jon. "I know you're not part of the Goth crowd, Jon. But I hope you can come too."
"If Sabrina's going, I'm going," Jon said.
"Good. I'll see you there," Karyn said, then continued on down the hall.
The real Karyn, who was trapped inside her own body, knew that this had something to do with the wishing stone. And since Sabrina was the one that had it now, it must have been something that she did.
On the way down the hall, Karyn got a horrifying glance of herself in one of the hallway mirrors. Like Sabrina and her friends, Karyn was now a Goth. Or at least she had the appearance of one. Black-dyed hair (she presumed it was dyed, since her wish to have blond hair was permanent), pale skin, black eyeliner, black lipstick, a full-length black dress (giving her an almost witch-like appearance), and around her neck, a black choker.
She wasn't sure where her body was taking her, until she spotted Nadine, a Goth girl who mostly everyone at the school thought was a real witch. Karyn just assumed that since they were both similarly dressed, they were friends. And it turned out that she was right.
"Hey, Nadine."
She turned towards Karyn, and threw her a wicked grin. "Hey, Karyn."
"Did you hear about Sabrina's new toy?"
"No. What is it?"
"It's a wishing stone," Karyn told her. In her mind, the real Karyn tried to stop her body from telling Nadine about the stone, but it was no use. Karyn could do nothing. And now one more person (and probably the wrong person) knows about the stone.
