Karyn opened the bedroom door and darted out into the hallway, but not fast enough to catch Jon's mother, who was already walking down the stairs.
So, she walked down the stairs after her, ending up in the living room.
"Oh, you're already up," Jon's mother said. "I was going to make some eggs. Do you want any?" she asked, walking into the kitchen.
"No," Karyn said. "I was just, uh, wondering when J ... I mean, Karyn was going to stop by."
