Karyn was absolutely furious at Jane. The way she had talked, she totally painted Mikey as the bad guy.
The problem was, in the back of her mind, Karyn knew Jane was right. What Mikey had done to her, to the both of them, was on some fundamental level quite wrong. But the fact that Jane was right just made Karyn madder. It was a truth she didn't want to face.
When she got to Mikey's door, Karyn started to become self conscious about how she looked. She wished that she wasn't dressed like such a tomboy. How could Mikey possibly like her looking like this.
Mikey, meanwhile, was beginning to second guess the morality of what he'd done. Sure, on some superficial level everything was fine, but to get there he had had to alter both Jon and Karyn's minds. That felt wrong to him. He decided that he needed to take Jane's advice and really be careful with what he did next.
Mikey opened the door to go find Jane and Karen to talk, where he found Karyn already standing.
"Oh, hi Karyn," Mikey said, startled to find her there.
"Hi, Mikey," Karyn replied quietly, quite visibly blushing.
"Come on in," Mikey said, opening the door for her, "I need to talk to you."
Karyn entered the room and Mikey closed the door behind her. He went to sit down on the foot of his bed and patted the spot next to him. Karyn wasted no time sitting down next to him as close as she could.
Mikey began to feel uncomfortable. He liked having the girl sit close to him, but he still felt bad about what he'd done.
"Karyn, what do you think we should wish for next?" Mikey asked, honestly wanting her input.
Karyn thought about the question for a minute. A part of her immediately tried to come up with a way to reverse everything that had happened, though she didn't really want that. No matter it's origin, her love for Mikey was real, and what she really wanted was to be with him.
Ultimately, she was too conflicted to give a straight forward answer and simply replied, "I don't know."
Mikey realized that Karyn wasn't going to be any help. He had messed her up too much. Jane, on the other hand, was still mostly the girl she had been. She would know how to fix things.
Mikey started to get up, intent on getting the stone and bringing it to Jane. Karyn, feeling Mikey slipping away, grabbed his hand and asked him to sit with her a while longer.
"I can't," Mikey replied, "this isn't right. I need to give Jane the stone so she can fix things."
"Wait," Karyn said, trying to prevent that from happening, "you're right, we need to fix things. I'm sorry, I just haven't been thinking straight. I definitely think I have a way to fix things!"
"What is it?" Mikey asked, suddenly seeming quite hopeful.
"Do you trust me?" she asked Mikey.
"I do."
"Then give me the stone and I'll make everything better!"
Mikey thought he saw some of the old Jon in Karyn's eyes, so he did what he asked her. I pulled the stone out of the drawer where he'd kept it, and he handed it to her.
Karyn knew this was her chance. Mikey could easily take the stone from her, and if he did, she was still bound by his previous wish not to try to take it back. She tried to think quickly of a way that she could be with Mikey.
But was that even what she wanted. There was still a part of her that wanted to go back to her old life as Jon. Logically, she knew that was where she belonged.
Finally, she pushed the doubt from her mind and said "I wish..."
