Sorry. I didn't want to sound like I was picking on Lucas. You've been fine with him. I can be accused of making Lilly a bit of a Mary Su myself.
Heck, I struggle as soon as magic enters a story because without rules... magic can do pretty much anything. But at the same time... magic is fantastical. Maybe I am too much of a realist. I do want us to explore what magic can do, and just 'let it be'.
I have been thinking more... and I do have a kind of plan that means we don't have to do any restart. It's kinda been the thing I've been alluding to, but maybe we should focus on it more:
I think we should see that Earth seems to be changing. First in small ways that nobody sees, then in somewhat larger ways. It's like a 'fantasy creep' infection? People find themselves living in whatever niche their transformations would feel most comfortable in- for instance, Steven's home is now a vast garden, with living walls that open and close as required... Jen's family has organic carpeting that allows their slug bodies to move freely.
worst would be hospitals that might have machines or 'bio-things' That they don't know how to use (Though some seem to have an instinct.)
The fantasy creep could be the motivation of the story. Some people might actively love it, others hate it similar to transformations.
Lucas for instance, could find she has a castle in the clouds of Earth... and for some reason her influence has extended through time itself, and helped a great many people. But all this does come at the cost of technology, and possibly a population decrease...
...a lot of people were simply, never born. (thus end up in the 'other world' where all such tend to go)
