It was August, nearing the end of a summer of changes. Zoe looked at a girl who she didn't recognize. Yoga had become a habit, she went 5 days a week, more often than the cheerleaders did, health had become something important to her, she wasn't sure why, it just made her feel good, she felt drawn to it for some unknown reason. As a result she had lost nearly 40 pounds over the summer and everything about her had changed, her face had changed as she found out when she looked at photos from the year before. All of this seemed to happen without her noticing.
Her friends seemed to have changed along with her life. She still preferred black over pink, still liked metal over pop, still had no desire to be a cheerleader, but yet she felt the influence of the changed Athena on her life. She no longer felt like a goth, she was less angry than before maybe? Less driven to be aggressively against the world, now she felt more or less apathy towards it, towards most things. She was sort of a nobody who happened to hang with a cheerleader from time to time.
Athena had continued to change as well, this summer was a growth summer for her. She used to be the small girl, the flyer on the team but over the summer she had hit a spurt, grown a couple of inches upward, and quite a few outward. She couldn't explain it herself, big breasts didn't run in her family, but she seemed to be getting them, not that she was complaining. She went from cute cheerleader to sexy vixen. She wasn't quite used to it, it had only been a few months ago that she was plain and natural witch and now she had the curves and constant attention that real beauty brought. She tried sharing this with Zoe, who she would call to go shopping for new cloths with (she found she needed them often) and Zoe would find herself saying yes despite her distaste for the mall. It was Zoe who gave her the idea to go with the two toned hair, blonde for her new self, and black for her old. She felt more and more bubbly as time went on, and felt more and more ready for cheer season to begin.
