Susan wasn't the only one thinking about a beauty parlor. So was Gladys. She felt so good about herself, that she wanted to get a makeover. She didn't really see herself as the makeover type, but she was hanging out with all these pretty cheerleaders, and wanted to fit in.
She parked her mother's car, a five year old minivan, and got out. She spotted Sarah and her mother, getting out of a stylish new convertible. She hurried over to say hello. "Hi, Sarah."
Sarah didn't say anything. Susan, who had never met Gladys, grimaced at the thought of more of her daughter's condition getting back to her school. "Sarah has been a little sick lately. I thought getting cleaned up a bit might brighten her spirits. And she has a Doctor's appointment tomorrow."
"Yes, I know. She wasn't at school all afternoon," Gladys said. "Well, nice meeting you, ma'am," she said, smiling. She headed inside.
Simpleton, Susan thought after her, and they went inside as well, taking a seat in a corner.
