Biff grabbed his books from his locker, hoping no one saw him. He understood that whatever had happened to him changed everyone's memories so that everyone thought he really was supposed to be a geek. But he was embarrassed to be seen nonetheless. That morning, he was at least fortunate enough to find something in his closet not quite as geeky as the outfit he wore the previous day. But it was still a far cry from the clothes he was used to wearing, the ones that accented his sexy body, which he no longer had.
"Biff," someone said.
He turned and saw a girl named Jennifer Taylor. She was one of the Taylor twins, the geekier one of the two. Sarah Taylor was preppy and fairly serious (shaping up to be a lawyer someday, probably), whereas Jennifer was a little more fun, but was way too preoccupied with theater and band, two things Biff had no interest in. He wondered why she was calling out his name.
"Biff," she said again, smiling as she moved between a group of students talking.
"Uh ... Jennifer?"
"Don't tell me you forgot my name. We've only been dating for four months."
"You're my girlfriend?" Biff asked, stunned.
"Last time I checked," she said. Then she looked oddly at him. "Are you okay?"
"Actually I'm not."
"Tell me," she said.
"I'd rather not."
"Oh, come on. We don't keep any secrets from each other, remember?"
"Maybe I could tell you later."
Jennifer shrugged. "Okay. Anyway, I was wondering if I could come over to your house tonight."
Biff tried to imagine what they would be doing. His jock's mind wandered into sexual intercourse territory, but for some reason he knew that that wasn't what she wanted.
"We could get a pizza and then work on your project. But I have to stay after school for a bit for theater. You know how it is."
Actually, he didn't.
"So what do you say?" she asked.
"Sure," he said, but without any enthusiasm.
Apparently, she didn't notice, because she smiled and said "Thanks, Biff." Then she walked down the hall.
