By Monday Jason was no longer surprised to find that he had girl parts when he went to the bathroom in the morning; it was still distressing, but the shock was gone. It made him worry that he might be getting used to it, but the fact that he was still upset by it was a comfort. Besides, there was plenty of shock to go around when he looked at the clock and realized that it was nearly eight-thirty. He was late! Why hadn't his mom woken him!? Jason rushed downstairs in search of her.
By the time he realized that she'd excused him from school on sick leave, Jason had established that she wasn't home right now; she must have already left for work. He looked on the counter in front of the coffee maker; sure enough, she'd left a note for him.
Jason, it read, I shouldn't have to remind you of how important it is that we find some way to return you to normal. If there is a way to fix what's happened to you, we want to do it as soon as possible, before your body starts developing as a girl. In light of this, what I want you to spend your day on is scouring the Internet for any possible answers; you have my express permission to look anywhere necessary. Be strong, honey; we'll get you through this.
Love, Mom
Jason smiled in spite of himself. "Express permission" really did mean a fair bit; his mother was very protective where the Internet was concerned. But there really wasn't time to take advantage of it; she was right, it was important to get this fixed quickly, and he was going to have a hard enough time resisting the siren-song of the Playstation, anyway. He hopped on the computer and set about his task.
