Kaytlin Rose was the daughter of Laurence and Della Rose, owners of Rose Fabrics. Kaytlin loved her parents' store, but it seemed like only grandmas ever shopped there when they needed quilting supplies. She couldn't remember the last time she saw anyone her own age there, even her closest friends.
She was thinking about this on the way to her after-school shift, when she stumbled upon a small box with a note and a strange stone inside. It could grant wishes?
"I wish my socks were white," she quickly blurted out. And lo and behold, her black socks had turned to white.
Kaytlin was giddy. It worked! Now, she wanted to start small, she didn't want to flood the store with teenagers just yet. Maybe start with someone to model the clothes she designed? Sarah McMillan had the best model's body in the school, but Kaytlin didn't really want to spend more time with Sarah McMillan than she had to. Karyn Black, however, had a very similar build.
Kaytlin didn't need to give the thought another moment. "I wish Karyn Black would come to my parents' store today because she wants to model dresses for me."
There was a slight flash, and Kaytlin's heart filled with giddiness. Today was the start of a new chapter! She couldn't wait to get to the store and meet her newest friend.
