Karyn transformed ... and suddenly there were two handless people in wheelchairs sitting there. Karyn was still herself, but was now paraplegic, just like Jon. Zoe smirked.
Zoe's mom walked past in the hall and said "I'm going now. They didn't need to go yet, so you'll have to change their catheters yourself."
What? Zoe thought.
"And be careful with the food. If I catch you spilling it on either of them when you feed them ... so help me ..."
"What's going on?" yelled Zoe.
"It seems," said Jon, "that if I'm a paraplegic and I don't have any hands either, someone has to take care of me. And Karyn. Mom's leaving the house, and it looks like you've been elected. It's a little past 5:30, so I guess you've got around three hours of it. Plus whatever you have to do after school, of course."
"Wait a minute ... you mean I have to change a tube to get rid of your piss? I have to feed you? Both of you? Do I need to clean your bedpans too?"
"I'm sure you'll find out," replied Jon. "But you deserve much much worse for what you just did to us. You think nothing of utterly ruining our lives ..."
"I ... I can reverse it. I wish none of this happened!" The wish, of course, didn't do anything. "I wish you're healthy again." Nothing. "Why is nothing happening?!"
"You can't reverse wishes, that's why," Jon said.
"But ... it's a wishing stone. It should be able to grant any wishes I make!"
"Not this one."
Zoe stared. She was only having a little playful payback. She never intended any of it to be permanent. What was she going to do?
