As I made a beeline for the next town, I had been walking for a few hours before I heard the loud sound of hooves. I stopped dead in my tracks and drew another pair of throwing knives. I looked to my right and saw someone approaching from the distance. I had to just wait for them to approach. There was no way to outrun someone on horseback and the area was pretty open. Running would only invite more problems for me than it was worth. As I looked closer, I saw that it was not some human on horseback that was coming closer. It was a centaur. The top half of the creature was a fair skinned and lemon blond young man. The lower half was a white stallion with a short yellow tail. This was my first time seeing something like this. I had never even been through a portal before. There were always more important things to focus on as a phantom thief keeping three steps ahead of the police and the competition. My lower jaw would be on the floor if it could reach that fall. The centaur's long hair was unkempt aside from the single tight braid that hung down from the left side of his face.
Being a wild centaur, it came as no surprise that he was totally ripped. Thick muscles on his arms, 6 pack, and not a scrap of fat to be found told me he was not someone that could be fucked with easily. He slowed to an easy canter as he got closer. When he was right in front of me, he stopped and looked me up and down. "Who are you and why are you on the plains, human?" he demanded with crossed arms. "I'm travelling to the next town." I told him as I pointed northward. He snorted and said "Try again. What are you really doing here?" I raised an eyebrow at him and just repeated myself. "You know that the next settlement is days away with those puny 2-legs of yours?" he said with a roll of his eyes. That was something I did not know. "Those bastards set me up!" I snapped as I glared harshly in the direction of the town I had come from. The centaur sighed and said "Looks like your 2-leg town did you wrong." "That's not my town. I just was passing through and needed directions. I have better places to be." I snapped at him. He looked at the bag and asked "What is in the bag?"
Calming down, I said "Nothing important. Just my clothes and some trinkets to remember my home." He just rolled his eyes. "You can't lie to me 2-legs. I know that it's very important to you. What is it?" "I have nothing to say to you. Your nosiness doesn't mean anything to me." I said as I put the strap over my shoulder. I began walking and he scoffed as he walked beside me. He did not say anything. I did not say anything to him either. Obviously, he was waiting for me to stop and give up. Why he wanted to hang around me was a mystery. I was not going to give him what he wanted though. Actually walking for the rest of the day would be a grueling challenge though. It was not like I had food or water. That was something taht I was going to need to figure out or I would die in the middle of nowhere. After half an hour, the centaur cantered ahead of me and turned so he was facing me. "Stop. Keeping up with a 2-legs is wearing me out." he said. I smirked and said "I guess 2 legs is better than 4." He glared at me. "As if! I'm bored going as slow as you! Pick up the pace!" he said.
