We'd missed a few days of school because of snow earlier in the school year, so Spring Break was shortened so we'd still have the state-mandated 180 day school year. So the first day back from Spring break was thursday.
I patiently waited all day Friday for Karyn to show me the new book I had wished up, and was getting impatient by the end of the school day. When I finally saw Karyn that afternoon, cute red hair and normal figure, I was relieved, but still anxious. I thought she was teasing me at first, then I wondered if she didn't trust me. She seemed like she wanted to tell me something but couldn't.
Then I remembered my wish, and laughed to myself. It was probably after midnight when I finally made it, so it was technically earlier this morning. Karyn couldn't tell me until tomorrow!
On the bright side, we had all day to play with the book. Tomorrow would be Saturday.
Getting to sleep that night was like Christmas Eve when I was 7, but I managed. My last thought before drifting off was, "Wow, I haven't even thought about my stone today."
