The next day was a Saturday, and Karyn, not being used to having her own stone, accidentally left hers at home. Figuring Jon would have his, she decided to go back for it when she finished hanging out with Jon at his house. Her mom rarely went into her room without telling her, so Karyn figured that there was little chance of her mother finding the stone and using it.
Early that afternoon, Karyn's mom walked by her room, which happened to be a mess. I asked Karyn to get her laundry together so I could wash it before she went out to meet Jon, thought her mother, as she started picking up the clothes. She's so messy. Its like having a boy in the house.
She found an odd stone on Karyn's dresser. Why does she have this odd rock? she thought, picking it up. Figuring it probably didn't matter, she continued to pick up laundry. As she took the laundry to the washing machine, she said to herself, "I wish..."
