"Miss me, babe?" Tiffany asked, smirking at Jon, who turned and looked across the room towards Karyn, with a look of worry and fear on his face. But there was nothing that could be done, and he knew it. Once one of the girls picked a partner, that was that. He just hoped that Tiffany would keep things "professional" between them. Dealing with the girl's overactive hormones was the last thing he wanted to deal with right now.
About thirty feet away, Karyn found herself paired with Biff, Sarah McMillan's slutty boyfriend.
"I heard Sarah beat you up," Biff said.
"She didn't beat me up. It was just a misunderstanding," Karyn said. Although, truth be told, she did still feel pain where Sarah hit her.
"My girlfriend can be over-protective sometimes."
"Tell me about it," Karyn said.
"Okay, listen up," Miss Felton, the coach/gym teacher, said. "Today we're doing football. But since we're indoors, we're just going to practice throwing the ball. So one of you go on one side, and your partner go on the other. I know you boys will be less accustomed to playing football than the girls, but please try your best."
They did as Miss Felton said, and soon Biff and Karyn, Jon and Tiffany, and the rest of the P.E. students were tossing a football back and forth. Karyn couldn't help but giggle a little at Biff's much less than perfect throwing and catching. After all, in the normal reality, he was on the football team. But in this new reality he wasn't. No boy was. Just like anywhere else, the football team was made up entirely of girls.
Miss Felton walked over to Karyn. "I'm impressed. You're really good at this," she said. Back in the normal reality, Karyn, being a tomboy, had played football before, when hanging out with Jon, Tim, and Pete. But back then, girls weren't allowed to play on the football team. Now, though, everything was different. "Ever think of joining the team?"
Karyn was flattered. She never really considered it before. Normally, she might actually take the coach up on her suggestion. But this reality wouldn't last more than one or two more days, so what would be the point? Although ... Karyn had control over how long the wish would last, so maybe she could wait longer than a few days. Technically, she could wait weeks, months, or even years before ending the effects of her wish. But could she do that? Could she allow this "reversed" reality to exist for that long? Was the chance to play football that important to her?
"Just think about it and let me know. I think you'd be a great asset to the team," Miss Felton said, then walked away.
Karyn threw the football in Biff's direction, only to watch the football fumble in his hands and fall to the floor ... again.
"Sorry," he said. "I really don't want to break a nail."
Karyn rolled her eyes and sighed. Then she looked over at Jon, wondering how he was faring.
