As Karyn and Jon entered the school they split up to go to their respective lockers, but not before Karyn grazed her hand across Jon's lower back. "See you at lunch, Jon-boy," she said with a grin. Jon blushed as shivers from the touch ran up and down his spine. He pulled his books up to his chest and hurried to his locker.
His first class was English, not his favorite but probably his best subject. It was hard not to put stock in the stereotype of girls being good at math and boys at english when it applied to him. Jon liked to get to class early and watch the parade of students file in. There were the boys, some impeccably dressed in nice skirts or designer jeans, and others not really caring about their appearance. He paid them little mind. Then there were the girls. Jon was a fan of the baggy, ripped-jean skater look that was fairly popular. Something about the comfortable look of it mixed with the hint of danger. A couple boys were less casual, wearing button down shirts open over tank tops. Jon liked that too, but then there was little about girls he did not appreciate.
Tiffany Sanders, the school stud, walked in wearing suit pants, flip-flops, and a tight t-shirt. Jon crossed his legs and made his best flirty eyes at her, but so did half the other boys in class. For contrast, Jon then watched Steve "The Slut" Farber strut in on her red high heels. He sat carelessly where he could draw the most eyes and crossed his legs, letting his already short skirt ride up his thighs.
Jon shook his head at the display. He did not approve of Steve's over the top behavior, but he hated the hypocrisy of it at the same time. Tiffany could have as many guys as she pleased and be a hero to the other girls, while Steve was stuck with a nasty reputation from both boys and girls for being just as promiscuous. Jon wondered if the rumors of Steve making out with Biff Meadows at a party for attention were true.
As if on cue Biff walked into class, the pleated skirt of his cheerleading uniform bouncing from side to side as he swayed his hips. Sarah McMillan walked a few steps behind, admiring the display her boyfriend was putting on. She quickly caught up to him once she saw some other girls eyeing her boy, and put her arm around him possessively.
Jon looked away, sure Sarah was a hottie, but she was also a bully. Mrs. Glasson called the class to order and they continued their discussion of Theresa Sawyer and Henrietta "Huckleberry" Finn.
