"That sounds wonderful. Of course I want to spend the evening with you." Linda finally responded, knowing her mother had always expected that answer.
"Well then, perhaps a trip to the spa is in order? I've been needing a good mani pedi." Sabrina declared. She did love her daughter, but always thought of herself first. Linda was her child, so of course she'd want the same things.
"I just have to text Biff. We were going to meet up later," she said, minimizing the fact it was actually a date.
"Of course, dear...I'll wait while you change out of your uniform and do that. But, while we are on the subject of Biff..." Linda sighed. Her mother thought Biff wasn't a good long-term prospect, just arm candy.
Linda headed to the locker room and texted Biff, advising her mother was at school and asking if they could postpone their date till the next night.
Thursday
There were two timelines...in the Wednesday timeline, Linda McMillan had gotten Jon Madison in trouble in Geography class and in the Thursday timeline, Jon Nguyen had not been in detention, instead meeting up with his girlfriend.
(Author's Note: I didn't notice this till the reread to pick up on this...Kyla 'Robertson' is a young and interesting science teacher. Later, Jon is in Physics class. Jon Madison doesn't seem the type to be taking two science classes at the same time, but then again, we don't know much about his academics.)
In both timelines, there was a Linda McMillan...Linda had left school early as she had things to do before her date. Sabrina McMillan, unlike Susan McMillan, didn't just expect her daughter to be Head Cheerleader, but she had other expectations of her that had to be kept up with.
But Jon Nguyen was taking several AP courses, and didn't share that class with Linda at all. Also, much to Jon's confusion, more girls seemed into him in the two realities...probably because the wish required him to have a girlfriend.
Linda, however, wasn't one of them. With him being in AP classes, she saw him even less during the day.
After school, she met up with her squad and left the school right after her last class. The JV squad was practicing today, and most of the squad, being friends with Linda, left the school with her. There were some members of the squad who disliked her, but kept their mouths shut.
The entire cheerleading squad therefore stayed the same between days...at least in terms of the people on it...some of them changed as a result of the butterfly effect.
Some of them would have, when the week started, considered the idea of being a cheerleader to be quite shocking.
