"Quit it, Sarah," said Jon.
"Oh, I was just complimenting you on your choice of..."
"No you weren't," said Jon. "You were being a smart-ass. Here I am with a weird medical problem from an accident and all you could think of is to make bad jokes about fashion sense." Jon had deliberately wished for it, but still, as far as Sarah knew, it was a bad accident.
"Fine, goodbye," said Sarah. "Sounds like you're on your period." She walked away.
"It's an exaggeration," explained Karyn. "Half the stories about women on their period are women who'd be bitchy anyway."
"Well, I wanted to see how people would react," said Jon. "I found out at least one. Or do you think Sarah was serious?"
"I don't know," said Karyn. "You know, whatever you wished, it's still really, really, strange, even if it's not strange enough to call in the Ghostbusters. Nobody knows how to react. Maybe she was just saying something inappropriate because she didn't know what to say at all. People do that, you know. Like when they saw you kissing Greg. Anyway if you want to see how everyone reacts, let's see what your parents say. I can imagine them taking the school to court."
"I never thought of that," said Jon. "Maybe it needs a wish. Make them accept it, or make them ignore it. You know, parents are such a big part of everyone's lives that I really should have thought what they would do before making this wish... Anyway, let's go to lunch."
