Jon's mom heard a frantic barking upstairs. She signed. She had tried to be supportive of Jon's transspecial identity, and had managed to get her insurance to pay for his species reassignment program, but there was no question that sometimes she missed having a human son who could talk. Oh well, at least she didn't have to deal with her child's heat, like Karyn's poor mom.
