Jon got to school even earlier than usual. He found Karyn sitting in their usual spot on the wall, dressed in a miniskirt, stockings, and a tight sweater. Two guys Jon didn't know -- he thought they were seniors -- were standing next to her, as she threw her head back and laughed.
She spotted Jon approaching and jumped up. "Sorry, meatballs, but I gotta talk to Jon here in private," she said to them, grabbing a backpack off the ground with one hand and then grabbing Jon by the arm with another.
She led him around the corner of the school to a spot where no one else was around, gave him a quick but intense kiss on the lips, and then asked, "Do you have the rock with you?"
"Uh, yeah," said Jon. Things were moving a little faster than he'd thought.
"Can I hold it?" Karyn asked.
"Uh..." Jon began.
"Don't worry, I got it all planned out," said Karyn. She reached into her backpack and took out a folded piece of looseleaf paper. "I got 'em all written down. No mistakes."
"I don't know..." said Jon.
"Look, how long have we known each other?" Karyn asked. "How many times have we fucked? I thought we trusted each other."
Jon felt as if some circuits in his brain had been scrambled. On one level, it was what he'd wanted, but actually hearing it -- and, of course, from his perspective, he hadn't actually had sex with her. But he wanted to. And the way Karyn was looking at him expectantly...
He took the rock out of his pocket and held it in his outstretched palm.
