The school day passed normally, or as normally as it could with half the goth girls flirting with him. It was creepy. Even his sister had barely acknowledged his existance before his wish. The other goth girls usually ignored him, as well. Now they couldn't resist him. Interestingly, several students who had previously had reputations as sluts, like Amy Richardson, and who hadn't been a goth before, were now goth girls. I wished that Zoe would be the school slut, Jon thought. Why are all the other goth girls sluts? After school, while waiting for Karyn, Jon made a quick wish. The answer suprised him.
Sluttiness was now part of the mentality of goth girls, as part of their 'rebellion' against society and an expression of their individuality. But while all goth girls were sluts, there was only one School Slut. This was the title given to the sluttiest girl of them all. Interestingly, this was a formal position, like prom queen, and a picture of the School Slut appeared in the high school yearbook, and was open to girls of all grade levels. Because of their reputation as sluts, the candidates for School Slut were almost exclusively drawn from the goth girl crowd. In fact, over the past decade or so, every single School Slut had been a goth girl.
While some individuals, such as Karyn, were disgusted by how they dressed and acted, most individuals seemed at least neutral to the slutty nature of the goth girls. It had been part of that culture since its inception, so people generally took it in stride along with the black make-up and angst. The position of School Slut appeared to be even older and even more accepted, with new groups dominating the position as they took over the 'slut' position from a previous grouping. This year, in keeping with Jon's wish that Zoe be the School Slut, Zoe had won the coveted position. Jon wondered how his mother would take the news.
