"Karyn," he explained at lunch. "Pete said some weird things to me yesterday. I can't tell if he's just trying to say the right thing and said the wrong thing instead, or if he was lying about his feelings to get into my pants and finally said something so silly I caught him. What do you think?"
"Wait a minute, Jon. Did you say Pete was trying to get into your pants?"
Uh oh. Maybe Karyn didn't know about the relationship that Jon had with Pete. He just assumed that she had. She was his best friend, after all.
"Uh, yeah."
"But you're a boy, Jon."
"Not from the waist down."
"But you've always thought of yourself as a boy. You may have female sex organs, but your brain is male."
Jon had never thought about that.
"I didn't even know you were into guys," Karyn said.
