There are always people who have certain pet peeves, and if a writer handles something particularly badly, readers may make that known, but in general so long as what you're writing resembles previous continuity and doesn't have any jarring spelling or grammar issues, you should be fine. I once wrote a branch that switched POV to a new character for no good reason and decided that she narrates her world in a film noir style. I didn't really have any justification past "I kinda want to write in a film noir style."
We're all pretty accepting here. The very worst thing that can happen is that something you post is read by a person in some position of power and in a fragile emotional state, an your writing pushes them over the edge and leads them to either violence on their own part, or leading others to violence, and the deaths of dozens of people rest on your head. But it's not like you'd know that had happened in any case, unless that person downvoted your story.
So write whatever you feel like writing, trust that if you like it, it's probably good, and keep an eye on the forum: if there's ever anything really problematic, someone will probably pipe up about it. I know I've done that on a few occasions. And if you don't see poor ratings (and sometimes even if you do: on occasion we've had random 1 ratings for no reason) and if you don't see anyone making any negative comments about your stuff in the forum, just assume you're doing alright.
This place is as much about entertainment for the writer as it is for the reader, so whatever you feel like, just go for it.
