Karyn's house looked like a miniature mansion...whereas previously it was a nondescript brick home...now it had columns, a porch...It even had a cuppola. Not that Jon knew what that was...
He knocked on the door and Karyn opened the door. He gasped as she opened it. She was wearing a dress...Karyn never wore dresses except when she had to. "Hey, Karyn...why are you all dressed up?"
"Dressed up? Whatever do you mean?" She asked, confused. She looked down at the long, flowing dark dress. "I always dress like this, Jon. Do you want to come in?"
He nodded, and crossed the threshold. She guided him into the parlor...a room that hadn't been there before. "It's Zoe..."
"You have not crossed her, have you?" Karyn asked, fearfully. "If you have incurred her wrath...then...you had better leave...Innocent bystanders can get in the way of her curses."
Since when, he wondered, did Karyn use phrases like 'incurred her wrath'? It must be part of whatever Zoe's wish was...
