A bright white light suddenly washed out the scene before him as the faint twinge in his abdomen faded.
Opening his eyes again (he hadn't even realized they were closed!), John found himself standing in front of an elevator in the SGC wearing O'Neill's leather jacket. He glanced around at his new surroundings, wondering why the game had reset to this point. A faint ping behind him caught his attention, and he turned back around to face the elevator as the doors opened. Apparently he'd been waiting on the elevator, so he went ahead and stepped on. Just judging from his clothes, he assumed he was on his way home, so he went ahead and pressed the button for the ground floor, wondering just how much mundane stuff the game expected him to act out. He didn't have to wonder long, as the elevator promptly shut down.
Cursing, John pressed the button again, but the elevator remained dark. Just as he started to reach for the emergency phone, he heard a familiar voice behind him say "Hello Jack." John turned around to find himself face to face with Daniel Jackson, a then-dead former member of SG-1. Realizing what had happened, he said out loud "Oh I get it, I died, so it reset me back to the beginning of the episode. I still don't know how to get out though..."
Obviously as confused as John had been a moment ago, the apparition of Daniel was looking at him like he was crazy. "Jack, what are you talking about?"
John decided he'd explain, "Well, a minute ago I was in the pyramid on Abydos, and one of Anubis' Jaffa had just shot me, then I reset back to the beginning of the episode just before I get on the elevator. I think I died."
Daniel continued to give him that strange look and said, "Oh God I've driven you insane..."
Obviously Daniel didn't understand, so John started at the beginning, "No, no, I'm not Jack! I'm just a kid playing a game."
If anything, Daniel seemed to appear even more apprehensive.
"Really, I'm just a kid named John!"
Suddenly Daniel froze, no longer even breathing, as a menu appeared in midair between the two of them. The menu listed the name of the show and the title of the episode at the top, above Daniel's head. In front of his face were the options "Character Selection", "Scene Selection", "Film Controls", and "Exit".
