Jon collapsed, with bolts of energy still burning their way through him. He could actually hear his flesh sizzle as his skin and internal organs were seared. Not even mentioning the smell. It was incredibly painful. More painful than anything he'd ever imagined. It was never like this on the show, but the VR set had made every thing much more realistic. The edge of his vision was beginning to fill with black. He couldn't endure the pain anymore.
Then he woke up, with a VR helmet on, panting. He threw off the helmet and examined his chest, frantically feeling every part of him that had been hit by the Jaffas' staff weapons. Nothing. Apparently, you logged out automatically if you died. But he really hadn't wished for a way out. Would he have to commit suicide to leave any game?
"How's your new game Jon?" Asked a voice that he recognized as his mother.
Trying to calm down, he called out to her. "F-fine."
"Are you alright? You sound a little odd."
He took another deep breath, then said. "Yeah, I'm fine."
"Well don't play that game too long, dear. Dinner will be ready soon."
"Ok." At least that would give him some time to recover. He suddenly wasn't so sure about this whole thing. Dying hurt.
