Much to my surprise, my doorbell was rung by a trio of street urchins. They were wearing the black silk and had the whips on their hips. It was clear to me who they were with. They wanted me to step outside because they said they needed to talk to me. I stayed inside my house. "I can talk to you right here and now. What do you guys want?" I told them. They looked confused and then looked at each other for what to do. "It's none of your business!" one of them said defiantly. I chuckled. "You're telling me it's not my business to know what you want to talk to me about? Get serious." I told them. The one that said that looked upset. He messed up and there was nothing he could say about it. The other 2 urchins looked at the tongue tied one. "Come outside already!" he said. I just sighed and called for the guards. Guard NPCs came out when called. It started a countdown before they spawned into the area and came to the defense of the one that called them. Any resident could call on them if they witnessed a crime or criminal. Any victim of a crime in progress could also call for them.

Now that the very intrepid and extremely powerful guards were being called, the trio fled right away. That was what I was expecting. After 5 minutes, a squad of 4 guards came by to check on me and take a report. There was an acceptable level of professionalism when they dealt with me. I was pleased and they left to do their work. When that happened, I thought that it was over. However, there was another knock on my door the next day. I went to answer it and got some webbing shot at me. I equipped my sword and cut the webbing that attached to me. I looked and saw that the culprit was one of the drider children that I had freed. He looked over his shoulder at me with a big frown. "Come with me now!" he said. I shut the door and stepped back. The drider tried to bang on the door to get me to come out again. "Come out! We want you!" he yelled. I went to the second floor and opened the window facing the street. The young drider was still banging on the door. I called for the city guards again. He saw me and tried climbing up the wall to get to me. I shut and locked up the window.

On the wall was a good place to be. When the squad of guards appeared, they could not reach him. They took out their bows and arrows. Before they could fire them, a big silk net was dropped on top of them. A group of young wererats came out from the alley across the way and threw their nets as well. Truly stuck, the wererats began whipping the guards to death. It took a while since they were so strong and well armored. Eventually, they were able to kill one of them by focusing on one. That made all the others really angry. Somehow, they got a boost to strength and started to break free of the nets. They picked up the pace and were able to kill a second one before they were free. The 2 that were up were pissed and fighting made. All the wererats transformed into half-rat humanoids. It made them faster and more agile. That was not enough to beat the guards and they were all hacked and slashed by their weapons. It did not work because they were were-creatures. You needed silver to dispatch with them. The wererats slaughtered the remaining guards. That was really not good.

If you somehow managed to kill the guards, more would come into the area. More than a squad would appear, and they would be even stronger than the first batch. With the regenerative powers of the were-creatures, they all were slowly healing. It was not like they were werewolves, so they would be horribly scarred and mangled from this fight. The guards took their pounds of flesh before they died. They took the hint that they needed to flee the scene. When they got to the street, they saw the bodies and demanded they show themselves. "Who did this!? Men down! Men down!" one of them said. I looked down from the window and they saw me. Their field of view was wider so that they could chase fleeing criminals down better. "It was that thieves' guild. They put nets on them and whipped them to death." I told them. "What were you doing!?" the leader asked. "I was waiting inside. My house was under attack, so I called you." I said. They frowned at that. "You!? Kyo the Rabbid Cat? Scarred of a few thieves!?" one asked. "It's your job to deal with them. I'm a resident here." I said.
