"What's up, Jon?" Karyn asked over the phone, now lying down on her bed, casually looking over some of her homework.

"Uh, I don't think we should use the stone for a little while. I mean, after what we ... I mean, you did earlier. Maybe we should plan out what to wish for before we use it again."

"Oh, yeah. Okay."

"Maybe we could just write down what we want and then tomorrow we could discuss it?"

"Yeah, that sounds good." She sure wished she would have done something like that, before making that stupid wish to give herself long blond hair and bigger boobs (although, unknown to her as of yet, some of her blond hair now had auburn streaks in it).

"Okay, then I'll see you tomorrow, huh?" Jon asked.

"Sure. I'll come over before we head to school. That sound okay?"

"Perfect," Jon said. They said their goodbyes, then hung up.

Karyn sighed, then got back to her homework. It would sure be nice to just wish it away, but Jon was right. They shouldn't make careless wishes.

Little did she know, Jon had just made a careless wish, one that had affected her life, and the lives of four other girls.

Nadine recited the Bible verse in her head, closing her eyes as she did so, then nodded. She got it. Now to get on with her school work. She sat down at her desk and pulled her books out of her schoolbag. Outside her window, she thought she saw a flicker of light, but then it was gone. The small fire that she had inadvertently caused moments earlier had gone out, consuming the bush, but not causing any damage to anything else.

Sarah walked into the food court and spotted her "friends". More like her followers. Sarah McMillan didn't have friends. Not really. Girls liked to hang out with her, because she was rich, hot, and popular. She was the head of the cheerleaders and she was dating Biff Meadows, the hottest guy at school. She had admirers. But she didn't really have any real friends. Someone she cared about, who cared just as much in return.

She flashed a smile at Melissa Smith, Tiffany Sanders, Amber Levine, and Jessica Wright, all waiting for her at one of the tables, then said "Okay, girls. Where should we go first?"

Yuki opened the door and was immediately met by her father's frown. "Where have you been? You know that you are to come straight home after school," Katashi said, his hands on his hips, looking stern, as usual.

She looked past him, seeing her mother Kamiko sitting quietly on the living room sofa.

"Answer me," he said, bringing her attention back to him.

"I was just enjoying the park, Father," she said. "I was not there long."

He softened a little. Very little. "Go to your room. And begin your homework."

"Yes, Father," she said, then headed to her bedroom, her head down.

Kyla walked home, satisfied with the completion of her science project, and finding herself thinking about Jay's party coming up later that week. She wondered if maybe she should buy something, like a costume or something. There was a shop at the mall that sold that type of stuff. And maybe while she was there, she could stop by the arcade and play some games.

Nodding to herself, she headed home to drop off her school stuff, then went to the mall.
